What is The Fermentorium
Well hopefully if you've made it this far you've a vague sense of who we might be. For too long now the local has been turned into Gastro pubs or taken over by giant corporations that offer 50p discounts for club members and we have had enough.
In a nutshell The Fermentorium is a place for people to come together over their passions, have an adult beverage or two and get to know their fellow humans!
We evolved to talk to each other, play board games and create memories. Sure we'll never sell the big macros for the cheapest prices but it's about more than that. It's about enjoying a well crafted product, produced by a person who actually cares about their craft. It's about trying something new and meeting strangers that leave as friends. It's about listening to an interesting talk on socks on a Wednesday night and learning something new about the world. It's about getting back to the community we once had, supporting other communities and their crafts and taking a little slice of time out for ourselves in a world seemingly hellbent on over working and undernurturing us.
And most importantly Mike was filling the basement up with too many weird experiments so this may or may not be an elaborate rouse for him to find a space to continue doing weird shit away from responsible adult supervision.
What we do?
Well we do a bit of everything tbh. We've got your craft beer, your wines, your ciders, your (insert your favourite intoxicating beverage here) as well as a wide variety of fantastically produced and deliciously made fermented food. If it falls under the umbrella of fermentation, we're interested in it; and if you can't find what you're looking for, then let us know and we'll see what we can do.
We'll also be looking to do tasting events, talks, lectures meet the producer and many other things. So if you have an idea, feel free to let us know and we can either work together to make it a thing or we'll try and find someone who wants to.
Who are we?
We’re Mike and Char, a married couple who have the ingredients of a perfect marriage: One who can handle tough calculations, lots of pressure, brings home the bacon and then there's Mike.
When we’re not brewing or making excel spreadsheets to ruthlessly organise anyone that vaguely enters our sphere of influence, you can find us foraging, fermenting weird vegetables or talking about that one time we decided doing a renovation project on a centuries old building would be a good idea.
